We Provide iPhone Backlight Repair
The first sign of a defective backlight is the severely dim display. The defect can be confused with a display problem. To check it, power your cell phone and shine a flashlight on the screen. If you see a dim Apple logo then you have a backlight defect.
The iPhone models with LCD screens have backlights that assist in the display. OLED models have no separate backlight, so a dark OLED screen is a screen or board fault; we check which one during diagnostics.
Most of these faults occur as a result of inept screen swapping. If the battery is left connected during a screen swap, it often causes blowing of resistors on logic boards that eventually affect backlight function. We correct this by measuring the diode values of pins of the LCD connector using a voltmeter to identify defective resistors. Once we've identified a faulty resistor, we'll cover the board with a high-temperature resistance tape to protect other components and then heat the shielding cover.
We'll then remove the blown resistors indicated by the pin without diode values and swap them with new ones. Finally, we test the new resistors and refit the main board and check the display.
Sometimes the defect may arise from other faulty components on the board like capacitors. This too will be identified through a thorough examination and then repaired, as in our other iPhone motherboard repair work. If the backlight layer of the screen itself has failed, we replace the screen instead (see iPhone screen replacement).
