We Solve Any Problem With a DJI Battery

Drone batteries are an essential component. With their robust design, DJI drone batteries rarely get damaged. However, sometimes they get damaged and need to be repaired.

Mostly, batteries do drain and are not able to charge. The remedy is to recharge it. Nevertheless, caution has to be practiced. Such batteries have built up resistance to normal charging current and often heat up and explode if charged unskillfully.

There are a few reasons that may make your battery not charge.

    • A faulty charger: sometimes the charger might not be working. To test this check the LED indicator if it's working.
    • Excess amperage: the DJI battery is designed through its charger to prevent the flow of electric charge in cases of excessive amperage. To solve this unplug the charger, give it a rest of a couple of minutes and plug it back in.
    • Overheating: the battery is designed to prevent taking charge in case of overheating. This design helps in maintaining safety, when overheated the Li-Po battery can explode.
    • Damaged cells: when cells are faulty the battery will also not charge.

Cells having an unbalanced charge is another issue that can arise. The risk presented by such a case is heat built up and maybe explosion due to some cell charging faster. With the use of our special tools, we'll correct this.

The battery that's dead can be revived through recharging by a special multi-charger like the Nimh charger. We'll start charging by 0.1A until the voltage reaches 3.0V. This is a keen process that is done while monitoring battery deformation and heat build-up.

If your battery is unrepairable we'll provide a genuine DJI replacement battery.

I was recommended this service by another friend. The reviews about them were mixed, so I decided to give it a try. I was very pleased with their service and work. They fixed my phone and made sure everything was up to date. They also gave me a good discount on the anti-shock film. Thank you for your work!

      FAQ

How do you fix a battery that won't charge?

First, we'll start by pinpointing the exact cause of damage. The possible causes are:

      • Outdated software: sometimes software that's not updated may render the battery unchargeable. To fix this consider updating the software with a battery in the drone.
      • Faulty charger connection: the charger connection may be damaged. Test the charger by checking the LED indicator if it lights green then the charger is ok. Visually inspect the charger for any damage. We also use another charger to test if the battery is charging
      • Excess current: the system is designed to prevent battery charging in cases where amperage is above the set limit (this is so for safety purposes). We unplug the drone charger and plug it back after some time.
      • Overheating: the system will not charge the battery if it's overheated. We'll cool it down first then charge it.
      • Faulty battery cells: if the battery is damaged it won't charge.

Once we've checked everything and ascertained it is ok. We use a special multi-charger like the Nimh charger to charge the battery. We'll start charging with a low current like 0.1A  until the battery voltage is above 3.0V. We use a LiPo checker to ensure each cell voltage doesn't exceed 4.2V (to prevent fire or damaging cells). After the cell voltage is near  4.0 V we change the charging setting to balance lead-acid.

How do you revive a drone battery?

To revive the battery, we'll follow the procedure below.

      • We first test the individual cell voltage with a LiPo cracker. The result will let us know the exact number of cells that are dead.
      • After ascertaining that the battery can be revived. We'll connect it to the battery multi-charger and LiPo charger to monitor cells.
      • On the battery multi-charger, we'll set the number of cells, type acid (set as Pb, Lead-acid) and set current as 2A.
      • We then check the LiPo checker to make sure individual cell volts do not exceed 4.2V (to prevent the risk of fire or damaging cells)
      • A charge will continue until the desired overall Voltage is achieved.

      Does DJI replace batteries?

DJI offers battery replacement service for batteries considered to be under warranty. That are those that are 6 months or with a charge cycle of less than 200. Also, batteries past the warranty are replaced at a fee.
